Skin MD Natural Lotion Review and Giveaway

You all have heard me talk about my dry, cracked skins on many post.  Skin Care is very important to me, but my skin is very sensitive and not happy with many of the lotions that I try to put on it.  Until recently, I had only found one brand of lotion that was gentle enough for me.   However, a few weeks ago I was contacted by Skin MD Natural and I immediately was crossing my fingers, hoping that their all natural, eco-friendly product would work for me. 

I immediately started using it on my hands (and my daughter's) the moment it arrived in the mail.  The lotion went on smoothly and a had a very light scent which I love because products with too much fragrance usually equals a lot of sneezing.  I was also thrilled that my daughter didn't break out in a rash like she typically does when lotion touches her skin.  

As far as my hands go, I didn't see much of a difference in the first couple of days.  I went to bed with soft skin and woke up with dry, itchy skin.  It seemed to give the temporary moisture that most other lotions provide.  However, when I woke up after the fifth day of using it, my skin was still soft.  Dr. Lisa Benest explains why:

"Regular moisturizers are designed to add moisture onto the skin. However, it does nothing to repair the barrier, so it's an endless cycle of constant moisture application onto the skin without healing and curing the dry skin. Many traditional moisturizers restore the moisture to the skin on a temporary basis, but after continued use actually send a message back to the skin saying it doesn't need any further moisture to be produced by the skin. This can cause the opposite condition where the skin is less hydrated than prior to using the moisturizers. With the shielding lotion you get a thin layer, so it does not clog the pores. It allows skin to breathe and it is what we call 'non-comedogenic' – it won't promote acne. In addition, it also protects the skin while allowing it to breathe."
