Flip Flop Wines Review

You may remember last month that my family and friends enjoyed sampling some Merlot, Chardonay, and Cabernet Sauvignon courtesy of Flip Flop Wines.  The wines were a huge hit and I was even asked where they could be purchased.  When Flip Flop Wines sent me another new wine to try, I decided to share with a few close friends that hadn't yet been introduced to the Flip Flop Family.  They took it a step further and brought the bottle of Flip Flop Moscato to their Bunco game to have a small wine tasting. They really enjoyed it and finished the bottle.  One of my friends said it was "light and crisp", while another said that it had just the right amount of sweetness.   And we were all happy to find out that our local grocery store is now carrying Flip Flop Wines.
For those of you who don't remember, David Georges, the vintner of Flip Flop Wines, grew up in Southern California where the laid-back lifestyle included wearing flip flops most of the time.  He combined this laid-back style with his love for wines to create a "well-balanced wine that everyone can afford".  Unlike many inexpensive wines, Flip Flop Wines are top-notch.  For only $7 a bottle, you definitely aren't expecting the high quality that Flip Flop Wines deliver.

Now if it wasn't amazing enough that David Georges produced such a wonderful collection of wines at an affordable price, he has also teamed up with an amazing non-profit group, Soles4Souls.  Soles4Souls is a hard working organization that works on collecting used and new shoes for those in need.  "Shoes help prevent the spread of parasitic diseases that plague over 1.4 billion people worldwide, and they are basic human necessity".  For every bottle of wine purchased, Flip Flop Wines will donate one pair of shoes to someone in need.   Their goal is to donate 11 million shoes in 2011!   And they are hoping to get our help!  Just out this video below about their new "flippin' good deeds challenge".

And you can help them out by trying out a bottle today!  Also feel free to join them on Facebook.   They are a friendly group and always have some great discussions going on.

Disclosure:  I received 1 bottle of wine in exchange for my honest review.  I was under no obligation to write a positive review.  All opinions are honest and my own.

Vacation Fun - Orlando

Every year my family and I travel to Orlando for some much needed vacation time.  We've visited all the Disney and Universal theme parks (countless times) and just can't enough.  For those of you that know me (or who are loyal readers), you know that Disney is my favorite place to be.  It is a place where our entire family can be together without the distractions of the real world.  I am always planning our next trip and I enjoy doing so.  However, I know many of my friends are not as big on planning as I am.  The hardest part of planning a vacation for most families is finding suitable accommodations.  Some families enjoy staying on property. Others are looking to save some money, but they also don't want to lose the convenience of being close to the parks. (especially if you don't have a car).  Disney Lake Buena Vista hotels are the newest and closest hotels to Disney World.  Not only are their hotels only 5-10 years old, but they also include Fine Restaurants, shuttles to the Disney parks, a heated pool, and a clean environment. What's not to love?

If you are planning a trip to Orlando and are concerned with more than just your accommodation, you should consider booking an Orlando Vacation Package.  You can get great deals on Disney and Universal Studios vacation packages. With OrlandoVacations.com, you can talk to an expert that will help you build your perfect vacation.   With their knowledgeable staff and great customer service, planning your vacation couldn't be easier.  They only require a $50 deposit (must be paid in full 15 days prior to vacation) and they guarantee the lowest rates.  They offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee, so you know they will be working hard to make sure you are happy.

Whether you decide to visit Disney or Universal Studios, you are sure to have a great time in Orlando.  I have visited Orlando about 10 times and I have never left without a desire to go back.  Have you ever been to Orlando?  What is your favorite place to stay?  What is your favorite park to explore?  Grab a latte, put up your feet, and join the discussion!

Rizzoli and Isles Season 1 DVD Giveaway

Best friends Jane Rizzoli and Maura Isles are back for another fun and action packed season on TNT.  If you are one of the few that missed Season One, read all about what you've been missing below.

ABOUT RIZZOLI AND ISLES TV SHOW (from their website):

Based on characters created by best-selling crime novelist Tess Gerritsen, RIZZOLI AND ISLES stars Angie Harmon as Jane Rizzoli, a tough-as-nails Boston police detective, and Sasha Alexander as Maura Isles, a smart, impeccably dressed medical examiner from a privileged background. Despite being complete opposites, the two women share an offbeat chemistry and strong working relationship that has helped them bust some of Boston’s most notorious criminals.

Lorraine Bracco stars as Jane’s demanding and intrusive mother, Angela. Lee Thompson Young is Detective Barry Frost, Jane’s somewhat green partner. Bruce McGill plays Detective Vince Korsak, Jane’s seasoned former partner who resents her being paired with Frost. And Jordan Bridges is Jane’s brother, Frankie Jr., a patrol cop who hopes one day to become a detective.

As the second season of RIZZOLI and ISLES opens, Jane and Frankie Jr. are each recovering from bullets they took during a siege at the police station. As Jane struggles to overcome scars that are more emotional than physical, an old flame – Sergeant Major Charles “Casey” Jones (Chris Vance – Dexter, Burn Notice) – comes back into her life.
Jane and Maura will take on a number of intriguing cases this season, including a murder carried out during a Revolutionary War re-enactment, a killing in a professional baseball team’s locker room, a complicated case involving a surrogate mother and a case involving the Salem witch trials. Jane will also face the return of serial killer Charles Hoyt (Michael Massee – Flash Forward), who takes a special joy in tormenting her.

Among the guest stars lined up for the second season of RIZZOLI and ISLES are Ernie Hudson (Oz, Ghostbusters) as Frost’s father, a Navy admiral; Matthew Del Negro (United States of Tara, Parenthood) as a mechanic who catches Maura’s eye; and Bill O’Reilly (The O’Reilly Factor) as a potential murder suspect.

For those of you who want to catch up on what you missed or for those of you who just want to watch it again, our friends at TNT are giving one lucky reader of Between the Lines a copy of the Rizzoli and Isles Season 1 DVD.

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

About the DVD Princess Poppyseed’s life on her family’s farm is far from the glamorous but lonely world of her favorite pop singer Vanna Banana.  On a chance meeting at a playground, Vanna and Princess cross paths and realize that they look almost exactly alike—which leads to the crazy secret plan where they decide to switch lives!  As each girl realizes that the life they longed for doesn’t fulfill all of their dreams, they learn that the life God gave them is the one for which they were uniquely and lovingly designed.

My girls and I haven't yet watched this fun looking DVD, but they have watched the above trailer and are ready to go to the store and buy their copy.  If your local store doesn't have Veggie Tales: Princess and the Pop Star for sale, you can visit their website to order your own copy.  While you are there, browse around at some of their other great DVD's or fun online games.  Your kids will fall in love instantly with these fun-loving characters.
