Recess and yogurt are two of my daughters' favorite things. So when I learned about Rally For Recess, I just had to share. Read below to learn some interesting facts.
Schools nationwide are cutting recess time due to limited resources, which can impede on your children’s physical development. In the past twenty years, children have lost an average of 8 hours of recess a week and some schools no longer provide play time for students. According to the American Academy of Pediatricians, the lack of playtime is a national crisis leading to a growing epidemic; childhood obesity.
Government and public health agencies recommend children engage in at 60 minutes of mild to strenuous activity each day. iv To help rally moms and kids around this cause, Dannon® Danimals®, nutritious on-the-go dairy drinks and low-fat yogurts containing calcium for kids, is launching a national initiative called “Rally for Recess”.
“Rally for Recess” is designed to create healthy competition, pitting school against school! Five schools have the opportunity to win new playground equipment and an all-day recess celebration. Danimals is committed to childhood health and wellness, which starts with good nutrition and an active lifestyle. Through February 8, 2012 purchasers can find codes on Danimals packaging to enter and register. The top five schools in each of the categories with the most codes registered wins!
Hopefully you are as excited about this amazing opportunity and will share this information with your child's school. And while you are at it, why not win your little one a branded soccer ball and branded drawstring bag to help them get even more exercise.
To Enter: Visit Rally for Recess and look around and tell me why you think this is a good program. Please leave your email address so that I can contact you if you win.
Bonus Entries: (please leave a separate comment for each entry)
~ Get your school signed up for Rally For Recess (3)
~ Follow Between the Lines via GFC, Facebook, or Twitter (2 entries each)
Giveaway ends September 23rd at 10 pm est. Open to residence of the US only. I was not compensated for this post, but wanted to share this promotion with my readers. Danimals is sponsoring the giveaway and is responsible for distributing the prizes. Between the Lines cannot be held accountable for prizes not sent.
There are very few bath and body products my youngest can use. She has very sensitive skin and easily develops rashes from products with too many irritants. When I learned about Coco & Tini's 100% Natural Products, I couldn't wait to give them a try. Although these gentle products are targeted for the littler loves in your life, my five-year old loves them. She says that they smell good and make her skin feel so smooth. She also loved the little characters on the bottles. She asks every day if she can have a sea horse bubble bath. And because the products are so gentle on her skin, I can actually say yes!
At Coco & Tini's, they believe products should be Natural, Pure, Simple, and Clean. As parents, they wanted to ensure that we only used gentle cleansing agents and ingredients derived from natural sources in our hair and bath care products. All Coco & Tini products contain only 100% natural-source ingredients. We do not and will not use sodium lauryl sulfate or sodium laureth sulfate, parabens, propylene glycol, artificial preservatives or artificial fragrances in any of our products.
Don't let the gentleness of the products fool you though. They still do the work that is required of them. After my little one decided to decorate herself with her Popsicle, the body wash and shampoo were put to the test. All the stickiness was easily removed, as with any other shampoo and body wash. You can buy your own Coco & Tini products on their website for $15.95 CAD per bottle. On your first order, you can save 15% by using the code BabyBonus15. And thanks to the generous people from Coco & Tini, one lucky reader is going to win the entire line of products to try at home!
Does that get you excited for its upcoming October 7th release? I know my husband and I will be making a trip to the movie theater when it comes out! Haven't heard of it yet? Well read the short summary below:
A gritty, white-knuckle, action ride set in the near-future where the sport of boxing has gone high-tech, “Real Steel” stars Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Dakota Goyo) to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback.
Don't miss Hugh Jackman in the Real Steel October 7th!
I originally posted this recipe a year ago after a fun night out with some friends, but after tasting some delicious Key Lime cookies, I thought of it again. It is so good that I thought it was worth sharing again. Enjoy!
If you read Friday’s post on P.F. Changs, I forgot to mention the greatest drink I’ve ever had. The Key Lime Pie Martini they served tasted exactly like a pie. It was creamy, smooth, and I absolutely loved it. This recipe is not as good, but still really yummy. I have no idea what made P.F. Changs' different, but I'd love to find out. Give this recipe a shot, alter it a bit, or just go find me the real recipe! Enjoy! And don’t forget to contact me if you are interested in having your blog and your yummy recipe featured in a Fabulous Food Friday Post. Whether you bake it, sauté it, or just microwave it, send it in! Share your yummy food and you may find yourself with new visitors. Please email me directly if you are interested. (firstname.lastname@example.org )
• 1 graham cracker, crushed into fine crumbs • 2 lime wedges • 1 1/2 fluid ounces vanilla flavored vodka • 1/2 fluid ounce melon liqueur (such as Midori®) • 2 1/2 fluid ounces pineapple juice • 1 dash almond flavored syrup • 1 cup whipped cream • 1 cup ice cubes
1. Spread the graham cracker crumbs onto a small, shallow plate. Moisten the rims of 2 martini glasses with the lime wedges; reserve the lime wedges. Dip the moistened glasses into the graham cracker crumbs and set aside. Reserve the lime wedges and remaining graham cracker crumbs to use as a garnish. 2. Pour the vodka, melon liqueur, pineapple juice, almond syrup, and whipped cream into a cocktail shaker over ice. Cover and shake until the outside of the shaker has frosted. Strain into the rimmed glasses. Place a lime wedge on the edge of each glass and sprinkle the cocktails with some of the reserved graham cracker crumbs to garnish.

I'm not sure if any of you moms out there have noticed, but sometimes the Dads walking around the Disney Parks aren't that excited about going on It's A Small World or Prince Charming's Carousel. Of course they go on them because their kids love it, but the excitement factor just isn't there. They may be longing to ride Space Mountainor Expedition Everest over and over again, but it may be hard to enjoy without the kiddos by your side. But never fear Disney Dads! There are some awesome, must-not-be-missed rides that you can enjoy with your little ones.
5. Mad Tea Party: There is just something about spinning your child around until the laughter overtakes them that appeals to most Dads. If your stomach can stand it, twirl it faster and faster until you can't see the cute little door mouse anymore. If your stomach is a little weaker than your munchkin, spin it a little slower. They'll never know it can really go faster. And if you want to add a little more excited to your child's ride, head over to the tea cups first thing in the morning to take a spin with the Mad Hatter himself! If you are lucky, Alice will be riding with him too.
4. Toy Story Mania: What Dad could turn down a chance to play a life size video game? This 4D interactive attraction combines good ole' fashion gaming with some addictive midway fun. Parents and kids alike will enjoy joining their favorite Toy Story characters on this fast pace, fun ride. Will you be able to beat your child's score? Will you have the high score of the day?
3. Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin: Much like Toy Story Mania, Buzz Lightyear's fast paced ride will thrill Dads and kids alike. Jump aboard a space cruiser and help Buzz defeat the evil Zurg by zapping all the Z targets. Be warned, this is a very addictive game/ride. My husband rides it no less than 20 times per WDW visit. He has mastered the game and has repeatedly received the highest possible score (unlike me who barely registers as a Space Cadet).
2. Sorin': There is nothing that can compare to the feeling you get the first time you go on Sorin' except maybe the squeals of delight coming from your children sitting next to you. I don't want to give too much away, but Sorin' is so real with its panoramic views and multisensory effects, that you really feel like you are flying. Both my husband and my kids absolutely love it and must ride on it multiple times. All I can say it, thank goodness for Fast Passes.
1. Test Track: Test Track is one of Disney's fastest attractions and is enjoyed by kids and dads (and moms) alike. Our youngest daughter was finally able to ride this at 40 inches last year and I've never seen her happier on a ride. She loved the bumps and curves and like her Daddy, the wind in her face. Test Track is a ride that will keep both dads and kids laughing and cheering for more.
While the coasters may be more your speed, they are not really a family affair. What rides are your favorite to go on repeatedly with your kids?
