The Hair Coverings Store Review and Giveaway

Don't you just love discovering new hair styles and the accessories that make it possible?  At The Hair Coverings Store, the possibilities are endless!  " sells a complete array of Hair Accessories and headcovering for women,  girls and children. From the Pre Tied Bandanas to the hairbands there are many to choose for each style and taste." has so many choices and my girls had a great time creating different hairstyles. My youngest loved the purple headband the best.  She loved that it is soft and easy to use.  I loved that it stayed on and kept her hair out of her face.   And if you love that style of headband, there are many other colors to choose from.

My oldest daughter preferred the black hair clip.  She is only six, but she says that her new hair clip makes her look like a grown up.  After the "fashion show", she wanted to look online for other new hair accessories.    At, she found a cute beret and a lot more hair clips and headbands she just has to have.  And since her birthday is coming up, she may just get her wish.

And thanks to the generous folks over at The Hair Coverings Store, one lucky reader from Between the Lines is going to win a free $25 Surprise Box of Hair Accessories.

Mandatory Entry:  Visit and browse through their wonderful collection. Come back here and let me know what product you'd love to try.  Please leave your email address so that I can contact you if you are the winner.

Just a Bump on a Log

I've always been an on the go type of person.  I was always into athletics, running, and playing with the kiddos outdoors.  I managed to maintain my semi-slender figure because I was always on the move.  So what do I do all day, now that I  can't walk around because there are several tendons torn in my leg?  I sit on my butt and eat!

I just can't stop eating!

I know there are many of you out there that don't feel like eating when you start to feel down in the dumps.  I wish I had that mentality.  I am the complete opposite.  If I feel down or bored, I eat.  I keep telling myself to go work on my book, write a poem, read a novel.   But I have absolutely no motivation.   It took all that I had to just write this short, simple blog post.   And of course, as I continue to eat, the jiggling begins.  UGH!

So ladies, any ideas?   What can I do, that is productive (and doesn't include food), while sitting like a bump on a log?  Grab a latte (and maybe a donut), put up your feet, and join the discussion!

Recipe Corner: BBQ Cornbread Casserole

Over the last week, my kids have been so sick that they have barely eaten any food.  My oldest daughter has started eating again, but my youngest still could care less.  This dish, however, is her favorite. It is absolutely delicious. I am hoping that if I make it this week, she will start eating again.  Cross your fingers for us.  If you try it yourself, it is very important to spread the cornbread mix out evenly so it cooks evenly.

Do you have a quick and easy recipe you would like to recommend? Shoot me an email at and I can post it for all to enjoy!

• 1 - 2 pounds ground beef
• 1 large onion, diced (add to taste)
• 1 (10 ounce) can whole kernel corn, drained
• 1 can light red kidney beans, drained
• 1 cup barbeque sauce (I sometimes add extra BBQ sauce)
• 2 (8.5 ounce) packages corn bread mix (although I usually only use 1 ½ boxes)

1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
2. Crumble the ground beef into a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook until evenly browned. Drain excess grease and add the onion, kidney beans, and corn. Cook and stir until onions are tender. stir in the barbeque sauce. Spread the beef mixture in an even layer in a 9x13 inch baking dish (or casserole dish)
3. Prepare the cornbread batter mixes according to package directions. Spread the batter over the top of the beef mixture. Make sure it is spread evenly so the corn bread cooks evenly.
4. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in the preheated oven, until the top is golden brown, and a knife inserted into the center of the cornbread layer comes out clean.

Help, I'm Lost!

Okay, so I'm not actually lost...YET.   And I think with your help, I may be able to avoid it.  So typical me doesn't travel too far from home without my hubby.  I'm afraid of getting my girls lost somewhere without cell coverage and never finding our way back.   But with my hubby leaving for several months for work, I figured I need to get a little courage and venture out with the kiddos.  They are going to be missing Daddy like crazy and I want to do as much as I can to help distract them.

So my question for all you wonderful people out there is, What is the best and most reliable GPS out there?  I know I'm a little behind in technology because I may be the last person I know that doesn't have GPS.  So please throw out your ideas and save me from getting lost!
