Which do you prefer?

Television or books? This is a hard question for me. For most of life, the answer would have always been books. Books were always my way to relax and have fun. I honestly think at one point my family had as many books as our little local library. But now with the kiddos wearing me down, I will admit that I love watching TV. I don’t watch it during the day since my shows are not exactly kid friendly, but at night this is how my husband and I unwind. I haven’t given up my love for books, but at the end of day it is hard to keep my eyes open and focused on a page. TV requires a lot less concentration on my part. And the shows we watch are fun and action packed. As much as I love watching TV, I am kind of excited for a break. With summer break starting next week, I have a long list of books that I am dying to read. During the summers, I typically read more books than I do during the rest of the year combined. It is partly because I’m not chauffeuring the kids around as much, but it is also because there is not much on TV. During the summer, there are only a few must see shows. If you haven’t watched Eureka or Psych, you should definitely check them out. So which do you prefer? What are your must-read books for the summer? What are your must see shows? Fabulous Food Friday with Crazy Daisy

Welcome to Fabulous Food Friday! While exploring the blogosphere, I realized that there were many great recipes to share. So every Friday, I am going to try to feature an awesome blogger with their great recipe! Today’s feature blogger is Jasey from Crazy Daisy. When you get a chance, swing by Jasey yummy blog. You can even link up your recipes on her Tuesday Tastes Parties!

Here’s a little blurb from Jasey herself:

Crazy Daisy Button

Happy Day to everyone! Let me introduce myself. I'm Jasey from Crazy Daisy. Besides a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, and teacher, I am just a Wyoming girl who lives for the little moments. You know, the ones that are so teensy they are lost if you are not paying attention. I try to hold on to these moments, wherever they may occur- around the table, at the park, - really anywhere! Crazy Daisy is my inspiration place - a place to celebrate life's most simple wonders, and to share ideas that warm my heart. Recipes, crafts, quilting, DIY projects, kid activities... you just never know what you may find. I would love to have you visit sometime when you have a minute!!!

I would like to thank Kelly, for inviting me over to her Fabulous Food Friday! Isn't her blog way too much fun?!?! I simply love what she has done with the place!

Now, on to the sweet stuff! I thought I might share my brand new favorite treat...Tollhouse Cookie Pie Bars. I adore these sweet little delights! They start with a simple crust made with brown sugar and butter (need I say more?) and are topped with a nutty gooey chocolate layer.
I am convinced this is what heaven tastes like! Here's the recipe

Tollhouse Cookie Pie Bars
*adapted from Nestle's Chocolate Walnut Pie Bars

1-1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup butter (1 stick), softened
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
3 large eggs
3/4 cup light corn syrup
3/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 (12-oz. pkg.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 (8-oz. pkg.) chopped walnuts

*Note - The recipe called for 1-1/4 cups nuts, which left only 1/4 cup left in the bag. Rather than waste them or leave them to get lost in my pantry, I simply add the entire bag.

Preheat oven to 350. Beat flour, butter, and brown sugar in a bowl until crumbly. Press onto bottom of greased 9x13-inch pan. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until lightly browned.

Meanwhile, beat sugar, eggs, corn syrup, sugar, melted butter, and vanilla together in a large bowl. Stir in semi-sweet chips and walnuts; pour over hot crust.

Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes or until center is set (it may look a little puffy, but will settle into a wonderful gooey chocolate layer as it cools). Cool completely in pan on wire rack -if you can resist! Cut and enjoy! Seriously, these are my new fav! Give them a try and let me know what you think! I would love to know!
Thanks again, Kelly! What a fun visit!
