Open Discussion: Blogger vs. Wordpress

Today I am traveling to Maryland to to celebrate my youngest nephew's first birthday so I didn't have much time to write this morning.  So today I thought we could try an open discussion topic.  I would love to hear your opinion on the Blogger vs. Wordpress debate.  Which do you prefer?  Which do you feel is more reliable?  Which is more user friendly?    These are questions just to get us started.  I would love to hear what everyone has to say.  I have heard that many fellow bloggers are moving over to Wordpress and I was just wondering is the move worth the hassle?  Keep the discussion going and I'll chime in when I get home this evening.  Grab a latte, put up your feet, and join the discussion!

Have a good trip! :) I like Blogspot but then I do my own html for the layout & posts. I also like how easy it is to export the whole blog & comments to an xml file.

Blogger is simple and probably a whole lot easier than Wordpress. Wordpress looks great though. It is sharp and very clean looking.

Greetings from Malaysia!

I love Blogger cos it's simple, user friendly and there are lots of themes and widgets that can be use. I'm not a fan of WP at all so I can't comment on it.

After a year of blogging on Blogger, I switched out to my own self-hosted website 3 weeks ago (nope, not WP). To save my $ from getting a web designer, I do everything from scratch by myself... the blog layout and structure, the blog images and buttons.... everything is DIY...

Blogger is great when you're first starting out blogging. However, Wordpress is far more reliable. With Blogger, you get comments disappearing, the possibility of your blog disappearing, etc. Since I've moved to Wordpress, I have had no issues with being able to access my blog like used to happen with Blogger.

I LOVE the look of WP. It looks sharp and clean. I don't like how confusing the back end is, and I also hate those "you are posting comments too quickly" messages. Really sucks when you are entering giveaways, and I don't want to do that to my readers.

However, I'm terrified that my blog will disappear forever, and I'm sick and tired of losing comments. So...it's a toss up. LOL

I think it depends on a lot on your personal preferences. I got scared that I'd lose my blog for good, which is mainly why I left. However, I love how easy it is to taper text around photos, in reviews instead of having a picture centered, with no text on either side. then text. then another photo, etc.

Most people who prefer blogger think that word press is too difficult to understand, but I personally don't feel like it takes a ton of technology knowledge, but I'm 19 so perhaps the average 19 year old is more tech savvy than the average 35 year old which could cause the separation.

As usual, so behind in the internet world. Don't even know what Wordpress is. I don't do twitter, though people keep telling me that it will change my life. Now Wordpress. It really is too much... How do people keep up with all of this???
