Mini Bloggers

My little girls have been watching me blog with great interest for the past two months. They would continuously ask me questions and even pretend they had their own sites. As the suggestions began pouring in from my kindergartener, my teacher brain kicked in. Why not give them their own blog? It would be educational on so many different levels. So after adjusting the security levels, I am now the proud mother of two mini bloggers!

I am always searching for new ways to make learning entertaining. Blogging will provide my girls with a fun opportunity to develop not only their reading and writing skills, but also their creative and technological minds. Of course the child’s age will determine the amount of help they need, but even if you are the one typing, it is their little minds creating. My girls are also having fun with the digital camera. They are taking pictures of things that interest them and from their perspective.

Do you have a mini blogger? Grab a latte, put up your feet, and join the discussion!

**Safety Note: You can adjust the security on your child’s blog so you can control who is allow to view it.***

I like this idea. My Son had a Facebook page from 6 months. Mostly because all my family live across seas and I thought it would be a good way for them to send him messages and see all his pictures.

My 8YO started one - I restrict it to just us. She completely loves it.

I created blogs for both my children when they were born. They were public for a long time. I stopped updating them because I simply did not have the time or energy to update three blogs! Their blogs are still around but are now private, maybe once they can write or understand it a little more I'll get them going on their own blogs again! That's why I didn't delete them, I wanted them to have the option to keep them up when they get older!

I think that's a great idea! Especially since the security can be modified, it's a real blog, but also safe!

I think introducing things when kids are young is the better idea. That way, when they are of age to be on their own with it, they'll be used to it, and know how to use it and practice online safety.

Oh, how fun! Although, I'm not starting my kids yet -- they don't read, write, or spell a whole lot yet and no one would be entertained by my son typing his name eight thousand times, maybe with a bat-cat-rat-sat-fat-mat thrown in for diversity.

Awesome! My kids have their own laptops and blog through my husband's school district so they can connect with other kids their age. This has been nice since I homeschool. They don't get as much interaction with kids their age as most do.

Love this post...my girlie pretends she is blogging on her learning laptop! I didn't know you could adjust the security settings...she will for sure want her own blog as soon as she can spell a few more words! She has always enjoyed taking pictures and takes pretty good ones too, maybe she can start with those!

My 11 year old has a blog with a couple of friends in which they posts videos and take advice questions. They are very creative and I get to monitor everything closely!
