Psych!

Do you have a favorite TV show that isn't as well known as most?  In our house that show is Psych.  Psych is a comedy-drama series that runs on the USA Network.  This summer will start the 6th season of this must-see show. If you haven't seen it yet, never fear.  You can catch up with past seasons using Netflix streaming TV shows.  They currently have seasons 1-4 available for your instant Queue.

Psych revolves around Shawn Spencer and his best friend Burton "Gus" Guster, as they help the Santa Barbara Police department solve high priority crime cases.  Spencer acts as the department's lead Psychic by using his heightened observation skills to find clues the other detectives miss.  The opening flashbacks show how Shawn's father, Corbin Bernson, helped him develop his impressive detective skills. James Roday (Shawn) and Dule' Hill (Gus) have the perfect comedic chemistry.  They feed off each other so well that you can't help but laugh even if you've seen that particular episode several times.

Shawn always introduces his friend Gus to suspects with a different name. Here is a short clip of some of those names:

Everyone should give this show a chance.   It will have you laughing out loud.  And if you can only watch one episode, check out American Duos from season one.  HILARIOUS!!!  This Psych episode is a parody of American Idol and the ending performance is so funny (especially if you know the characters).

Oxy Skin Care Giveaway

Have you or your kids been struggling with problematic acne?  Well, it is time to make your skin care a priority with Oxy Acne Solutions.   Here is what Oxy Acne Solutions is offering you:

OXY® acne solutions wants to help you break the cycle. For more than 30 years, OXY has been committed to helping fight the war on acne. Through the years, we've worked hard to provide acne solutions that are as affordable as they are effective. And we're proud to say that OXY product s are backed by careful research and strong science…. and you can find it at stores nationwide or online for affordable prices.
Ready to make the commitment to clear skin? I’d like to offer you the opportunity to try the OXY Clinical Acne Solutions Pack, which gives clinical results without the prescription:

·        ~  Data shows OXY Clinical Clearing Treatment kills acne bacteria as fast as a leading topical prescription acne medication, and is proven to eliminate 99% of acne bacteria in just 8 hours.

·        ~ OXY Clinical Advanced Face Wash means 25 times more medication remains on the skin to fight acne longer

~ OXY Clinical Hydrating Therapy is a 3-in-1 formula that hydrates, exfoliates and controls oil

They also want to provide you some important tips:

~ Give it time. There's no doubt that you can see fast improvement with OXY skin care products, but they work best when used over time.

~ Stick with it. Many people wrongly believe that a product worked for them "at first" but then "stopped working." Frequently this occurs because once blemishes start to clear up, people aren't as diligent about maintaining their skin care routines. OXY has products designed to treat, heal and help prevent acne. So you can use them to fight breakouts and to maintain clear skin too.

~ Make your skin care a priority. Too often we are too busy to take time for ourselves. We forget to wash our faces before going to bed. Or we skip a treatment because we're rushing out the door. Make the commitment and find the time to stick to a simple skin care routine. Our skin is worth the effort.

Buy It:  You can purchase Oxy Skin Care at your local drug store, Wal-mart, or Target.  Don't forget to visit their website to get a coupon for your purchase.

Save Money This Summer!

Summer is here and that means sun & fun with the kids . . . and probably a bit of a spike in your family expenses.  Whether you’re paying for the kids to go to camp, planning a family vacation, or “simply” entertaining the kids while they bask in their three months of education-less bliss, a major concern for families in these approaching summer months is how to cut costs without cutting out the fun.

Luckily, there are a ton of ways to keep the kids entertained, the grown-ups sane and your wallet full.  Here are a few tips and ideas that will help keep the entire family happy (and healthy!)

+  Go to the Library – It may seem old fashioned and outdated, but I wouldn’t have any sort of appreciation for reading an e-book on my iPad if it weren’t for my mother dragging my initially unenthusiastic self to the library several times a week during the summer.  You may be met with a bit of resistance with school-age children, at first.  No one really child truly wants to spend their summer reading when it has such strong connotations of homework.  But, there’s a lot to be said about the library.  For starters, it’s air-conditioned.  Give your electricity bill a break and set aside a few hours a day where you can find relief from the heat at someone else’s expense.  Secondly, there is always a plethora of events and readings that take place regularly at most public libraries.  Third, there’s nothing quite as simultaneously mysterious and comforting as a library.  The weight of a book in your hands, the smell of the paper, the sound of pages flipping – children are very much sensory oriented, you’ll be surprised how engaged they become when reading isn’t just about scrolling down.
+ Tie Dye – It may not always be the best fashion statement, but it is a great, cheap and fun activity that will get the kids off the couch and outside.  All it takes are some inexpensive t-shirts (or old ones that are lying around the house) and a kit (or, sometimes preferable because they can be cheaper, stand alone dyes) and a grassy area to get messy in.  It’s a bit of a win-win situation: the kids get to flex their creative muscles; everyone gets to enjoy the sunshine, and a few new pieces to add to the kids’ wardrobe!
+ Farmer’s Markets – Teaching kids about great nutrition and eating well is something that needs to be integrated into their routine at an early age; the farmer’s market is a great, hands on way to teach kids about food, seasonality, and help them develop their palate and try new things.  Not only will you be helping to support local farmers, but eating and buying in season will also cut down on your grocery bill.  Take advantage of the weather, bring the kids and plan a meal together.  There is something immensely gratifying about learning where you food comes from, picking it out yourself, planning your meal, and executing it yourself.  Your kids will appreciate the meal more, learn about food, and perhaps even pick up some cooking skills in the process.  At times kids in the kitchen can get a bit frantic, but the good thing about cooking with fresh ingredients is that they don’t need a lot of prep.  Simple meals that are easy to prepare go hand in hand with fresh ingredients, and the pay off is tremendous!

Just In Case They Didn't Know

Did you all know that I have the most INCREDIBLE friends ever?   These wonderful ladies are always there for me and don't even think twice about it.  Just last week they took me out for my birthday.  We watched a great movie, had some yummy drinks, and shared some great conversations.  It was just what I needed to take my mind off all knee and arm pain I've been dealing with.

But my awesome friends didn't stop there.  No, they decided to put together a meal schedule to help me out in the evening.  By the end of the day, standing and cooking is about the last thing I want to do.  Now all I have to do is open the door and accept their wonderful meals graciously.   For some reason, I have a very difficult time asking for help.  I don't like to put others out and just try to do it all myself. So I am extremely grateful that they came up with this on their own and didn't give me a choice.  My friend M called me and said, "I have some great news and you can't say no."    Thanks M, J, V, J, S, M, E, and B!!  You Guys Rock!

Do you have some special friends in your life that you just couldn't live without?  Grab a latte, put up your feet, and join the discussion!

Mother's Day Giveaway from CoffeeCake.com!

I am so excited to have another opportunity to share my new love with you!  "CoffeeCakes.com  is a privately held company that markets specialty food and gourmet gift items exclusively on the Internet."  They sell a wide variety of desserts, coffees, and teas, but it is their Coffee Cake that now has my heart.  A few months ago, the friendly people from CoffeeCakes.com sent my family and I a coffee cake sampler to try.  The Coffee Cake Sampler included three full sized coffee cakes of our choice.
With so many yummy choices, it was definitely a hard decision.  In the end, we chose the No Walnut Cinnamon coffee Cake, the Apple Walnut Coffee Cake, and the Banana Walnut Coffee Cake.  Each of these delicious cakes arrived completely intact.  No crushed or crumbled cake.  Although it says on the box that they can be kept at room temperature for a week, we couldn't wait to try them, so we dug right in that evening after dinner.  I have to say that I have never eaten a coffee cake as moist as these.  From my first bite, I was hooked.  I think my favorite of the three was the Apple Walnut Coffee cake.  The dried apples gave it an extra bit of tang and sweetness.  My youngest daughter couldn't get enough of the Banana Walnut Coffee Cake and she was disappointed when I decided to freeze the rest of it.
CoffeeCakes.com states that you can freeze the cake for up to 120 days.  I have found that sometimes when you freeze baked goods, they don't always taste as good after you thaw them out.  So I had to freeze some of the cake for a few days to test it out.  It is hard to believe, but I actually think the cakes tasted better after being frozen.  So go ahead and order the sampler, save yourself some money, and freeze the cakes until your ready to eat them!  And with all orders over $50, you receive free shipping.

Now, just in time for Mother's Day, the generous people at CoffeeCakes.com are offering one of you wonderful readers a chance to win that special mom in your life their very own Coffee Cake Sampler!  The winner will be able to choose the three cakes that they want and are not limited to my 3 choices.

Mandatory Entry:  Visit CoffeeCakes.com and let me know something that you would like to try besides coffee cake.  Please remember to include your email so I can contact you if you win.
