Every mother loves getting professional photos taken of their little darlings, but no one loves paying the steep prices. Do you feel that the quality of your photos depends on the price? Would you be just as happy taking your child to the Wal-Mart portrait studios as you would taking them to the Picture People?  Or do you prefer a photographer who works out of the studio and on location?  With Christmas cards coming, it's time to find the perfect photo!

Fantasy Jewelry Box Review and Giveaway!

For those of you who have never heard of Fantasy Jewelry Box, you will be pleasantly surprised when you visit their website or YouTube Channel.  Not only does Fantasy Jewelry Box have a HUGE selection of men's and women's jewelry, but all their pieces are also reasonably priced and well made. Amongst their great selection are pieces that have been inspired by some of the top celebrities and designers in the industry.  According to their website, their "sterling silver jewelry collections primarily consists of high end genuine .925 Sterling Silver with high-quality cubic zirconia stones. [They] also proudly carry gold jewelry collections as well as fashion jewelry and costume jewelry for [their] more budget-friendly shoppers. [Their] cubic zirconia jewelry prices generally range from $10.00 to $500.00 so it is easy to see why [their] affordable diamond replica jewelry collections are so popular!"

For my review, I allowed my sister-in-law to choose herself a birthday present.   Between the two of us, we probably spent over an hour searching through all the beautiful choices.  In the end she decided on the Sandra's 26" Wood, Glass, & Natural Stone Necklace Set.  This set came with a Multi-layered necklace and matching earrings.   "Multi-layered necklaces are such a fun addition to every jewelry collection. We love the bohemian inspired feel that this matching jewelry set gives off. Rich browns seem to melt into each other and wood, glass and stones complement each other perfectly. Wear with the matching earrings or alone"  She hasn't seen it yet since her birthday is still a few weeks away, but I've tried it on and it looks amazing.  I was a little worried that she may have picked something to long and bulky, but the layered look really works.   Hopefully she will be as happy with her selection as I am when she sees it!

Product info:

  • Brass Base Metal
  • Rhodium Electroplated
  • 26 Inches in Length
  • Wooden Stones, Glass, Natural Stones, Lucite Beads

    The Soy Box Giveaway

Just a reminder that the wonderful giveaway from The Soy Box ends tonight!  Don't miss your chance to win a delicious smelly candy corn candle.  Enter HERE.  Good Luck!

Pink Dandy Review and Discount Code

Every girl and woman is a sucker for things that smell good. We all have our weaknesses. Some prefer the smell of flowers or fresh fruit. I, however, am a slave to the smell of dessert!!! Baked goods, ice creams, and even icing on its own (I know I’m weird…). No matter what scent you prefer, Pink Dandy has the perfect product for you.

Pink Dandy carries a great variety of lotions, candles, roll on perfumes, bath products, and much more. All of her products are phthalate free and animal friendly (vegan products). “Pink Dandy is a spin off company of Raw Beauty that was created by Janae Chang in 2004. What really sets Pink Dandy apart from other bath and beauty products is that we maintain consistent quality in each and every product, ensure that our products are made with rich, natural ingredients and are knowledgeable about our customers wants and needs in skincare and candle products.

Janae was kind enough to send me a few samples of her various products. Even though, I've used many different Pink Dandy products, it was very difficult to choose 3 scents that I wanted to try. I knew I would pick something from her Dessert list, but since they all sounded so yummy, it was hard to decide. Raspberry White Truffle? Or Pink Sugar Cubes? I finally let my girls decide. After reading them the list, they chose  Birthday Cake, Red Apple, and Goji Berry Bliss.  I was very pleased with their choices. The Red Apple lotion is very light and goes on smoothly leaving your skin soft and moisturized. The scent is delicious, but not overpowering. My girls are absolutely in love with the Birthday Cake scented roll on perfume oil. The light cake and icing scent is perfect for those of us who don’t care for the flowery perfume smells. I will admit, that I didn't share the Goji Berry Bliss Facial bar.  This sweet smelling facial bar cleans and exfoliates your skin.

I've tried many other Pink Dandy products in the past and I've never been disappointed.  My favorites so far are the Strawberry Smoothie and Dreamsicle lotion and the watermelon lip balm.
I’ve already started my shopping cart for my next order. I think I am going to try one of her candles, bath bombs, and some more lip balms. For your next order, Janae has provided the lucky readers of Between the Lines a discount code to use at her online store or Etsy shop. Simply enter BTL100 with your order before November 15 to receive 15% off.  As a bonus, she includes free samples with each order!  Also don’t forget to also check out her blog and leave her some love!  She is always sharing great recipes, posts, and giveaways! And stay tuned for next month's Pink Dandy Giveaway!

Disclosure: I received sample products for this review. No other compensation was provided and a positive review was not required.

    Recipe Corner: Applesauce Muffins

Last week, my friends shared some applesauce muffins with my girls and they have been talking about it non-stop.  "Mommy, why can't you make muffins like Miss Jenn?"  So after deciphering all the whining, I decided that maybe they'd like me to make some muffins.  I found this recipe on allrecipes.com, but tweaked it a little for my own preference (whole wheat flour, splenda, etc..).  I hope you enjoy!

    Ingredients

    • 4 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
    • 1 tablespoon ground allspice
    • 2 teaspoons baking soda
    • 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
    • 2 cups sugar
    • 2 eggs
    • 2 cups applesauce
    • 2 tablespoons vanilla extract
    • 1 cup raisins

    Directions

    1. In a bowl, combine flour, cinnamon, allspice and baking soda; set aside. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs, applesauce and vanilla; stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Fold in raisins. Fill greased or paper-lined muffin cups three-fourths full. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until muffins test done. Cool in pan 10 minutes; remove to a wire rack.

    Open Discussion: Sibling Rivalry

A few days ago, a close friend and I were discussing sibling rivalry.   Where does is stem from?  How is it learned?  In both our families, and hopefully most others, it certainly isn't taught.  And if it isn't widely taught, why is it clearly visible no matter where you travel in the world?  Certainly children crave attention and strive to get noticed by mom and dad, but I find that the majority of arguments in our family have nothing to do with my getting my attention.  At a younger age, I'm sure the egocentric mind plays a major role in sibling rivalry. "I" am the most important person and therefore, "I" should always get my way.  Young minds simply cannot comprehend any differently.  But as the children grow, so does the rivalry.  I know without a doubt that my girls and my friends' girls love each other 100%, but they can go at it like they are enemies.  For a parent, this can be stressful and irritating.  But unfortunately, sibling rivalry is here to stay.  Where do you think sibling rivalry stems from?  What are your thoughts on controlling it?  Grab a latte, put up your feet, and join the discussion!

Certain Dri Solid Anti-Perspirant Review and Giveaway

Despite the fact that perspiration is not a fun topic to discuss, it is something that we all have to deal with.  No one wants to walk around with sweat rings on their shirts.  And we definitely don't want to want to scare people away with our odor.  Certain Dri Solid Anti-perspirant is a colorless, fragrance free and has been categorized as safe and effective in the ongoing review of non-prescription drugs by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.  To my surprise, Certain Dri is used differently than your typical deodorant/anti-perspirant.   By applying Certain Dri several night a week, you can control your perspiration.   This water based solid will not wash off during your morning shower and will continue to work throughout the day.  After using the unscented solid, I was completely surprised that my underarms remained dry during my 5 miles morning run.  And with my sensitive skin, I was very happy that I didn't get any irritation from using it.

    About the Product:
    • The product is specially-formulated to provide everyday, all-day dryness for those who suffer from excessive underarm perspiration.
    • Certain Dri® Solid Anti-Perspirant contains 25% aluminum sesquichlorohydrate (Anhydrous). It is the only over-the-counter antiperspirant with this ingredient, which is more effective than the aluminum zirconium formula found in over-the-counter solid antiperspirants that are labeled “clinical strength.”
    • Certain Dri Anti-Perspirant is available with 12 percent aluminum chloride, the active ingredient used in prescription anti-perspirants. Because Certain Dri® is water-based (vs. alcohol-based like its prescription competitors), it is available without a doctor’s prescription.

Buy It:  Certain Dri Anti-Perspirant is available in mass-market retail, supermarkets and drug stores nationwide. Each product is sold separately for the suggested retail price of $5.50.

Win It:  One reader of Between the Lines will win a Certain Dri Anti-Perspirant Solid.  To enter, simply tell me who you'd like to win this for.  Please include your email address so I can contact you if you win.
