Tortuga Rum Company Review and Giveaway

Tortuga Rum Company is a twenty-five year old family-owned business that is proud of their long tradition of making the finest Caribbean rum cakes and gourmet products.   Their moist, delicious rum cakes are made from a secret family recipe that has been delighting consumers for years.  Although their main bakery remains in Grand Cayman, Tortuga’s popularity has allowed them to expand to the Barbados, Jamaica , and the Bahamas.  To keep up with the demand, Tortuga Rum Company has also expanded to Miami, Fl where they manage the worldwide distribution, mail orders, food services, and online sales.

The Tortuga Rum Company is more than just cake.  They are the “largest duty free liquor business in the Cayman Islands with 18 stores throughout Grand Cayman.”  They offer a wide variety of flavored cakes, coffees, chocolates, and sauces.  When you get a chance, I would encourage you to explore their website.  They have fabulous ideas for gifts for loved ones, or for yourself!  They even have a variety of gift baskets to choose from.

I had my first experience with Tortuga when I went on a cruise to the Caribbean.  I remembered my Dad commenting on how good they were, so of course I had to give them a shot.  Each cake is individually wrapped and then vacuumed sealed.  This seal makes it difficult to open without scissors, but it keeps the cakes so fresh and moist.  I recently bought my Dad a mixed 6 pack of mini cakes for a special occasion.  He said he enjoyed the different flavors, but the original rum cake remains his favorite.  I think my favorite was the Orange Taste of Florida Cake.  Last wee, Tortuga was gracious enough to send me a small Original Rum Cake and a box of Chocolate Rum Turtles with Sea Salt to review.  These treats have all the yummy goodness of a traditional turtle candy, but with a little added twist that makes them unique to Tortuga.  They are sure to be a family favorite.

The Tortuga Rum Company offers too many wonderful products to be able to cover them in a single post, but if you would like a chance to sample some of them, you are in luck.  The generous people from The Tortuga Rum Company have offered one lucky reader of Between the Lines their own box of Chocolate Rum Turtles with Sea Salt.

A Thanksgiving Wish

"With holiday spirit coming to mind soon, I wanted let you know about a great way you can give back and teach kids about the joy of giving! Through VeggieTales you can make the message of “The Little Drummer Boy" come alive this year with life-changing gifts from the World Vision Gift Catalog. Just like the drummer boy who gave a gift to the newborn King, you too can experience the joy of giving a gift that helps children living in poverty all around the world.

Donations simply range anywhere from $20 for giving the gift of art and music, up to $100 for giving a goat and 2 chickens to help nourish hungry children with milk, cheese and eggs. Below is a link to the catalog to see more details on how you can help."

Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone!

Kidorable Giveaway (With TWO Discount Codes)

“In 1997, Kidorable sprung from the minds, hearts and efficiency apartment of Liping and Jonathan Domsky. They proclaimed, "The world needs someone to create children's apparel and accessories that are both functional and fun. We can do that."”   And they did just that.  Kidorable is a fun company that sells umbrellas, raincoats, rain boots, backpacks, towels, scarves, and much more!  All of their items are designed in fun themes for both boys and girls.

Kidorable has done it again with their newly introduced Dragon Knight Collection. This is definitely a collection that will have my nephews excited.  "The Dragon Knight collection is steel grey with dark green as accent color, perfect for strong and brave boys.  Some pieces accentuate the Knight, others the Dragon, but there is a nice interplay between both characters throughout the set.  The umbrella has protruding dragon horns and wings, with a knight, fire, and a castle motif along the bottom. The helmet on the matching raincoat is Kidorable’s coolest hood so far.

The child who wears it can imagine himself as a valiant knight fighting the dragon.  The backpack is shaped like a shield for extra play value.  It comes with a little stuffed toy sword. The coat is a new material, PU (polyurethane).  It’s softer and lighter than PVC.  If Dragon Knights aren’t for your kids, check out all their other great themes.  Our favorites were the fairies, mermaids, lotus flower, and lady bug.  But we have a house full of girls.  If you have some handsome young men in your house, they may love the frog, dinosaur, fire truck, or pirates.

As Thanksgiving approaches, Kidorable is counting their blessings.  They say it’s the thought that counts, so they thought they'd back up their good feelings with Free Shipping via UPS Ground on all orders place November 27 through Sunday, December 4.  Just hop on over to www.kidorable.com and use coupon code GRATEFUL2 at checkout to get free shipping on any order, big or small.   PLUS, Kidorable is partnering with the Children’s Cancer Research Fund to help you support a great cause.  We will donate 100% of the proceeds from our Butterfly umbrellas on www.kidorable.com from Thanksgiving through Christmas, bringing kids health, hope and happiness by revolutionizing the way childhood cancer is treated worldwide.  (No coupon necessary)
Buy it: Buy your own Kidorable items today!  Prices range from around $11.50 - $45.00.  And, for the week of December 5-11 only,  use coupon code DRAGON7 to receive a free Dragon Knight umbrella with your order over $20 (make sure to add the Dragon Knight umbrella to their cart first)
Win it:  Thanks to the generous people from Kidorable, one lucky reader of Between the Lines will win their very own Dragon Knight umbrella.  Simply visit Kidorable and leave me a comment about your favorite product.  This is a mandatory entry.  All other entries will be deleted if this is not completed.  Please leave your email address so that I can contact you if you win!

Propell Shops Review

Has your organization, group, or school ever wished that they could easily sell merchandise that had their logo on it?  PropellShops has created an easy to navigate website that will help you do just that.  Whether you are looking to make extra fundraising money or just want to sell cool, well-made products, PropellShops is for you.
The process  is pretty easy.  Your only job is to upload the image or logo that you think would work well on a t-shirt, mug, or other great merchandise.  Then PropellShops will create a webpage just for you.  You can embed your new webpage on your website or just share the URL as a stand-alone website.  Then you are ready to make money!  It gets even better...PropellShops doesn't charge you a cent!  So even is you are unsure, give it a shot risk free.   Check out the fun shop they created just for Between the Lines!  Here are some pictures of some fun items you could buy.
PropellShops sent me one of their warm 40" x 60" throw blankets to review. My artwork was knitted directly into the throw, not printed or heat transferred, so wash after wash, the image will never fade. All blankets are manufactured using 100% hypoallergenic soft yarn, ensuring that your masterpiece is soft and cozy to snuggle up with.  There are many colors to choose from and they can even add personal text!  Unfortunately, my girls have since stolen it from me.  They love using it to curl up with to watch TV.

Would your kids want their own blanket, hat, or hoodie with their team or school logo on it?  Suggest PropellShops at your next meeting or school function. Follow them on Facebook to keep up with all the latest news.  For example, right now there is free shipping with all orders over $50.  Enjoy!
