Paul McCartney & Wings' Giveaway!

I know there are a lot of Paul McCartney fans out there, so I wanted to share this information I received about the re-release of Band On The Run!  It is being re-released in many different formats, so read below to find the perfect one for you.  I also have one CD to giveaway to a lucky reader of Between the Lines!
_____________________________________________________

PAUL McCARTNEY & WINGS’ LEGENDARY BAND ON THE RUN

McCartney’s Epic #1 Album From 1973 Will Be Available In Multiple Configurations Featuring Remastered Rare Bonus Audio & Video Content With Special Exclusive Packaging

MPL and the Concord Music Group are pleased to announce the re-release of Paul McCartney & Wings’ iconic Band on the Run on November 2nd, 2010.  Heralded as one of the greatest albums of all time, the GRAMMY winning, smash # 1 album - originally released December of 1973 - yielded the immortal title track and world-wide hit “Jet” becoming Wings’ most successful and celebrated album ever.
Paul McCartney personally supervised all aspects of the Band on the Run reissue. The remastering work was done at Abbey Road using the same team who recently remastered the complete Beatles’ catalog.
Band on the Run will be available in a variety of formats originating with the single disc digitally remastered, essential 9-track standard edition.   The 3 disc (2CD, 1 DVD) special edition features nine bonus audio tracks (including the top 10 smash “Helen Wheels”), rare footage of the McCartneys in Lagos and behind-the-scenes at the famous album cover shoot, original Band on the Run promotional video clips, the One Hand Clapping television special (highlighted by studio performances filmed at Abbey Road in 1974) all with beautifully enhanced packaging.  Collectors will be especially thrilled by the 4 disc (3CD, 1 DVD) deluxe edition which adds an extraordinary 120-page hard bound book containing many unseen and unpublished photos by Linda McCartney and Clive Arrowsmith, album and single artwork, downloadable hi-res audio versions of the remastered album and bonus audio tracks, a full history of the album complete with a new interview with Paul and expanded track by track information for all four discs. The deluxe edition also includes a special Band on the Run audio documentary (originally produced for the 25th Anniversary edition.)  The original remastered album and bonus audio content will also be issued in a 2 disc 180gm audiophile vinyl edition that comes with an MP3 download of all 18 tracks. Lastly, the standard and deluxe versions of Band on the Run will be available digitally worldwide.
The musical achievement of Band on the Run is nearly matched by the amazing story behind its creation. Intrigued with recording abroad in the summer of 1973, McCartney searched for a list of studios around the world.  Spotting one in the remote location of Lagos, Nigeria, he became enthralled with the idea of recording in Africa. Days before departure, lead guitarist Henry McCullough and drummer Denny Seiwell quit the band leaving the entire project to the three core members, Paul, his wife Linda McCartney and band-member Denny Laine (along with recording engineer Geoff Emerick). Recorded in August and September of 1973 (with further work done at AIR Studios in London in October 1973), they persevered through a tumultuous, yet creatively invigorating 2 month recording process battling difficult studio conditions, oppressive heat and a dangerous mugging at knife point. The thieves made off with the demo tapes (among other valuables), forcing the band to record the entire album from memory.
Band on the Run triumphed both critically and commercially.  The album topped the US album chart 3 separate times, won a Grammy and went on to sell more than 7 million copies.  Upon the release of Band on the Run, then Rolling Stone reviewer Jon Landau famously gushed, “The finest record yet released by any of the four musicians who were once called The Beatles.”
Paul is currently playing five songs from the album on his ‘Up and Coming Tour’.  Live favorites over the last 8 years of touring have included “Jet”, “Band on the Run” and “Let Me Roll It”.  In 2008 when Paul played a free outdoor show to over 500,000 people in Kiev, a Ukrainian poll listed “Mrs Vandebilt” as their all time favorite Paul McCartney song. It’s been included in the set ever since.  At the start of this tour Paul added “Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five” to the set.
Band on the Run marks the first release from the Paul McCartney Archive Collection, an ambitious reissue program that encompasses 40 years of cherished, classic material from the most successful songwriter and recording artist in music history. It’s also the initial physical release of the recently announced agreement between McCartney’s MPL and Concord Music Group to globally market and distribute McCartney’s venerated solo and Wings catalog.

Orglamix Organic Mineral Makeup Review & Giveaway

A few months ago, I was lucky enough to have been sent three mineral eye shadows from Orglamix to review. Orglamix is an Etsy shop that sells makeup made from 100% pure mineral. Cheri, the artisan behind Orglamix, never uses synthetic materials in her products. So you can be sure they are safe, especially for those of us with sensitive skin. Cheri says, “All Orglamix products are proudly formulated without: nano particles, bismuth oxychloride, synthetic dyes, petrochemicals or parabens. Orglamix is a proud member of PETA.”

Orglamix eye shadow was definitely a new experience for me. My typical eye shadow consisted of the cheapest one I could find. I have always been interested in trying mineral makeup, but the price of it always held me back. Thankfully, Orglamix’s prices are affordable. The eye shadow alone is only $4.99 each. Of course she has many other great products that you should check out. Orglamix offers weekly specials and combo packs (like the starter kit) that you won’t want to miss. Last week she has the most beautiful eye shadow in a light Caramel color for only $2.50!

Orglamix offers over 200 exclusive colors. For my review, I was sent three eye shadows. Chocolate Chip Cookie, Storm, and Olive were my color choices (So beautiful!). Since I am so accustomed to the solid packed eye shadow, the loose mineral shadow was quite a treat. It went on smoothly and blended easily. I loved that I didn’t feel like I was wearing makeup. I tend to only wear eye makeup, so to find something that stayed on, while looking smooth was a great discovery. If you still are hesitant, wait until you hear the best part. Orglamix offers a money back guarantee. If you don’t like it, they will simply refund your money.  Orglamix products would make great stocking stuffers for the upcoming holidays.  Visit them today before your favorite color sells out!!!

Orglamix is offering one reader of Between the Lines a chance to try out this wonderful makeup! The lucky winner of this giveaway will be able to choose 3 colors from the Pure Organic Mineral Line Eye Shadow.

Mandatory: Visit Orglamix and leave a comment telling me one of the products you will choose if you win.

Off To Disney!

So vacation time has arrived!  After 30 days of pulling links off our countdown chain, we are down to one.  I doubt my kids will be concentrating very well at school today knowing that we are leaving first thing in the morning. But hopefully they won't get themselves into any trouble! :)   All next week, I have prescheduled posts about the different parks we are visiting, the resort, and even a little about the Disney Vacation Club.  But I realized that I didn't write anything about the Dining.  This will be the first year that we will be taking advantage of the Disney Dining plan so we decided to explore some new restaurants.  I figured I give you a little idea about what we will be experiencing and then fill you in with our review later.

The first night we arrive, we will be eating at the Beach Club Resort (the one we are staying at).  They offer an all you can eat seafood buffet with many non-seafood choices as well.   I am so excited to eat the snow crab legs and my husband can't wait to dig into the shrimp.  The second day we will be using our dining credit to have breakfast at the Crystal Palace.  This traditional breakfast is a character buffet.  Our daughters are in love with Winnie the Pooh and his friends, so I have a feeling this will be a hit. The third night we will be eating at Le Cellier Steak House.  This restaurant, located in the Canadian Pavilion of ECOT,  is so popular that starting next year you will have to use two table credits to dine there.  Hopefully that mean it will taste REALLY good!

The fourth night, we will also be dining in EPCOT.  This time we will be venturing over to the Japanese Pavilion to eat at Teppan Edo, a fun Japanese Steakhouse.  The following day, we will be having lunch at Hollywood and Vine, located in Disney's Hollywood Studios.   This lunch buffet will include entertainment provided by the Playhouse Disney friends.  The sixth night, we will dining at the Garden Grill.  This meal, hosted by Mickey, Chip and Dale, will be quite an experience.  The restaurant is located over one EPCOT's garden and it rotates while you eat (this is only from info I've read).  Our final night will be spent eating at Nine Dragons, located in the China Pavillion at EPCOT.  Not sure if there will be anything spectacular about this restaurant, but we love Chinese Food, so it should be a hit.

If you have visited any of these restaurants and have some feedback, I'd love to hear it.  However, if you have negative feedback, I'd love if you hold off until we get back. :)  I would hate to go into it with bad expectations!  Well, I'm off.  I will be checking comments at the end of every night, but I may not answer many until I return.  Have a great week!!!

Bubble Chocolate Review and Giveaway (5 winners)

Although Bubble Chocolate is fairly new to the United States, it has long been enjoyed by people all over the world. Manufactured in Europe, Bubble Chocolate is aerated chocolate bars infused with air bubbles. It is created using the finest, all-natural ingredients. Bubble Chocolate comes in two very delicious types, Milk Chocolate and Dark Chocolate. For those with an intolerance to dairy, you will be happy to know that the Dark Chocolate Bars are dairy-free.

Although, I am usually a bigger fan of milk chocolate, I really enjoyed the Dark Chocolate bar better. It was so full of flavor and was very creamy.  The best way to enjoy this light chocolate treat is to break off a small piece and allow it to melt a bit before chewing. This allows the chocolate to become moist and creamy an utterly irresistible.

“Creating Bubble Chocolate is both an art and a science. Our proprietary procedure includes the following steps: first, infusing the bubbles throughout the chocolate at just the right time and temperature, followed by molding and cooling the chocolate so that the bubbly structure remains inside while the outer shell is formed.” Are you interested in trying Bubble Chocolate for yourself?   Perhaps you know the perfect stocking that is calling its name?  You can pick up a bar at your local Wholefoods or order from their website here.

The generous people from Bubble Chocolate have offered 5 lucky readers of Between the Lines a bar of their Milk Chocolate and a bar of their Dark Chocolate!
Mandatory Entry: Follow Bubble Chocolate on twitter and come back here and let me know you do.

Open Discussion: Digital vs. Hard Copy

We are living in the age of digital, well…everything. Anything you could possibly need seems to be right at your fingertips. With a click of a button, we can download movies, music, TV shows, books, newspapers, etc… Digital vs. hard copy has been an ongoing debate between my husband and I for years. Which is better? Which is more practical? Although I am losing some ground when it comes to digital music (I mean how convenient is ITunes), I stand firm when it comes to digital pictures and books (for now, at least). Don’t get me wrong, I love my digital camera as much as the next person, but I think we need to take the time to print hard copies of the pictures we cherish. What happens if your computer crashes tomorrow? Are you willing to risk losing all those precious memories forever?

Then that takes us to my beloved books. Could I possibly be satisfied reading from a digital reader for the rest of my life? Would I miss the feel and smell of a real book? I am currently testing out a Sony Reader (on loan from my wonderful mom). I have to admit, it is not all bad. It doesn’t have the same book feel to it, but it is definitely more eco friendly. It also takes up less space and is more cost effective. But are those reasons enough to convince me to stop buying my books??? I guess only time will tell. While there are advantages and disadvantages to both digital and hard copy, we all have our own preferences. Where do you stand in this ongoing debate?

Grab a latte, put up your feet, and join the discussion.

Holiday Open House: Cinnamon Bread

I love the Holiday season.  I love it so much that each year it seems that we start getting into the festivities just a little bit earlier.  My girls and I love decorating, baking, and doing Holiday themed crafts. My favorite bread of all time is the cinnamon bread recipe below.  I've posted it before, but it is my go to recipe for the holidays.  I serve it when people visit and I give it as a gift to those I visit.  Once you've tried this bread, you will be hooked for life!  Hope you enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (or substitute with whole wheat flour)
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 (5.1 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup applesauce
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees . Grease two 5x9 inch loaf pans.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, pudding mix, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. In a separate bowl, mix the milk, oil, applesauce, eggs, and vanilla. Stir the milk mixture into the flour mixture until smooth. Sprinkle the bottoms of the loaf pans with cinnamon sugar, and divide the batter between the 2 pans.  Sprinkle the tops of the loaves with cinnamon sugar.
  3. Bake 1 hour in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of a loaf comes out clean.
Don't this sound delicious?  If you get a chance to try it out, I'd love to hear your feedback. What is your favorite Holiday bread?   Grab a latte, put up your feet, and join the discussion!

Mystery of the Hope Diamind - Presented by the Smithsonian Channel

In case any of you or your family members were interested in the Hope Diamond, I wanted to pass along this information that I received about an upcoming special. Feel free to pass on the information to anyone you would be interested.
____________________________________________________
On behalf of the Smithsonian Channel, we would like to invite you to take part in a very exciting event featuring the world’s most famous and valuable diamond, the Hope Diamond. The MYSTERY OF THE HOPE DIAMOND is a one-hour special that premieres Sunday, November 21 at 8PM ET/PT on the Smithsonian Channel.  Academy Award® and Golden Globe®-winning actress Kim Basinger will narrate the special and take you on the spectacular journey through the eventful history, complex science and infamous curse of this one-of-a-kind 45-carat gemstone.

From gracing the neck of Marie Antoinette to leaving a trail of untimely deaths in its wake, MYSTERY OF THE HOPE DIAMOND will provide an in-depth look at this gem’s brilliant but eerie tale. With its legend marked by both kings and thieves, the Hope Diamond has transcended its own luster to become the Smithsonian’s most visited exhibition. As part of the Smithsonian's world-class gem collection, the Hope Diamond has the highest price tag by a huge margin. The Smithsonian places no valuation on the diamond, but outside estimates today put the Hope Diamond’s value into the hundreds of millions of dollars. Clearly with its distinctive scientific properties, flawless clarity, rare deep blue color and, of course, its history, it is without a doubt that this gem is truly in a class all of its own. And now, for a limited time, those who visit the Smithsonian will be able to bask in the glow of the Hope Diamond in its new temporary setting, “Embracing Hope”, as voted on by the American public and designed by world-renowned jewelers Harry Winston, Inc., in celebration of the 50th anniversary of its donation to the Smithsonian.

Viewers will also be able to watch the MYSTERY OF THE HOPE DIAMOND three days earlier then its television premiere! It will stream for free on November 18th on smithsonianchannel.com beginning at noon- so make sure to check out this special event before everyone else!

Also, if you want to test your knowledge about the world's most famous diamond check out the Hope Diamond quiz on Facebook!

Holiday Open House: Candied Yams

I love the Holiday season.  I love it so much that each year it seems that we start getting into the festivities just a little bit earlier.  My girls and I love decorating, baking, and doing Holiday themed crafts.  I also love to recreate recipes that my mother used to make for us during the holidays.   One that I used to love and plan on sharing with my girls this year is Candied Yams.  In my mind, everything taster better with a sweet side dish to accompany it.  And the best part is, it is so simple to make!  Hope you enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 (29 ounce) can sweet potatoes
  • 1/4 cup butter, cut into pieces
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups miniature marshmallows

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  2. Place sweet potatoes in a medium baking dish. Distribute butter pieces evenly over the sweet potatoes. Sprinkle with brown sugar. Layer with miniature marshmallows.
  3. Cover and bake in the preheated oven 25 minutes, or until sweet potatoes are tender and marshmallows have melted.
Don't this sound delicious?  If you get a chance to try it out, I'd love to hear your feedback. What is your favorite Holiday side dish?   Grab a latte, put up your feet, and join the discussion!
