Holiday Open House: French Toast Bake

As the holidays began approaching, my mind immediately begins to drift to food.  I love baking during the holidays and I love making special meals for my family that we don't normally have.  On a typical morning, breakfast consists of cereal, toast, or oatmeal.  We just don't have enough time in the morning to have a hot meal.  However, during the holidays we like to make an exception.  My mother-in-law introduce me to this yummy French Bread Bake recipe a few years back and it is definitely a keeper.  The beauty of this recipe is that you prepare it the night before.  So when you wake up in the morning, all you have to do is stick it in the oven and enjoy!

Ingredients
1 (1 pound) loaf French bread, cut diagonally in 1 inch slices
 8 eggs
 2 cups milk
1 1/2 cups half-and-half cream
 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
 3/4 cup butter
 1 1/3 cups brown sugar
 3 tablespoons light corn syrup

Directions
Butter a 9x13 inch baking dish. Arrange the slices of bread in the bottom. In a large bowl, beat together eggs, milk, cream, vanilla and cinnamon. Pour over bread slices, cover, and refrigerate overnight.

The next morning, preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a small saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar and corn syrup; heat until bubbling. Pour over bread and egg mixture.

Bake in preheated oven, uncovered, for 40 minutes.

What special breakfast foods do you fix during the holiday season?  I love new recipes, so if you have them posted, leave a link! :)

Herbal Hugs Review and Giveaway (open to all)

Do you ever suffer from migraines or really bad headaches?  Do you dread the days when you feel all achy?  Do you ever feel like you just need a hug?  If you answered yes to any of the above questions, Herbal Hugs is just what you need.  Herbal Hugs is the natural therapy for your sore muscles, aches, pains, chills, tensions, stress, headaches, stomachaches, and even earaches.  Herbal Hugs uses thermal and aroma therapy to help ease and relieve your symptoms.
Herbal Hugs offers a variety of "hugs" to fit your targeted area.  The Herbal Hugs Eye Bags are perfect for relieving those pesky headaches and can even relieve symptoms of migraines (trust me, I've tried it).  When cold, they are even a great relief for red, swollen eyes.  I would have to say that the Herbal Hugs Eye Bag straight out of the freezer is my new favorite tired mom remedy.  "Eye Bags are soft flaxseed-filled pillows that feel like magic to sore, tired eyes. The 9"x3" satin covered bags can be used at room temperature, as a cold pack or heated slightly for penetrating warmth."
Herbal Hugs also offers Body Packs.  The Body Packs are the perfect "hug" to help relieve joint pain, stomach pain, stress, and so much more.  "Body Packs are 7"x8" fleece bags filled with the special blend of grain and herbs. The content of the pack flows to comfortably fit the contours of your body. No bumpy lumpy bags, no harsh cotton or other printed fabrics. The polar fleece is a wonderfully soft fabric against the skin while providing excellent thermal retention and a tough resistance to stains and dirt." The Body Packs come in 4 different choices of scents.  I was able to review the Rose and Chamomile Body Pack.  The light flowery scent is very calming and relaxing.

Herbal Hugs also offer Neck Wraps.  The Neck Wrap is the perfect "hug" to help ease neck pain, backaches, cold feet, aching limbs, and much more.  "Neck wraps are 5"x28" fleece bags filled with our special blend of grain and herbs. The Wrap is sewn into sections so that the grains remain evenly distributed through the entire length. The soft wrap fits comfortably to the contours of your body. It will remain upright against the back of your neck rather than sliding down to your shoulders the way many of the collar shaped ones do."

Herbal Hugs would make a great Holiday gift for someone you love or even for yourself.  The packs range in price from $9.99 - $29.99. Or you could purchase the gift set that includes all three packs for $50.  Thanks to generous people from Herbal Hugs, one lucky reader will win a Body Pack and Eye Pack!

Morning Breath

Is it just me, or are kids completely oblivious to morning breath?  They are more than content to cuddle up in the morning and breathe all over you and they don't even mind if you breathe back on them.  I am not a fan of morning breath and I'm hoping one day my kids aren't either!. :)  Are your kids oblivious too?  Grab a latte, put your feet, and share your favorite morning breath story!
