What’s up with the PJ’s

I will be the first to admit that I am not the most stylish woman in the world, not even close. Luckily my friends and mother-in-law are slowly introducing me to the world that is fashion. My attempts to dress more like a woman and less like a mom rarely go unnoticed, but runway model, I am not. However, even with my narrow fashion awareness, I have better sense than wearing my pajamas to do my shopping. “What’s up with the PJ’s?” is a question my husband and I often ask each other when we are out shopping. Are they planning on taking a nap while they are out shopping? Do they think they are making a fashion statement? Or do they simply not care? If you wear your PJ’s to do your shopping, please let me know your reasons. I am dying to know!

I have never gone shopping in my pj's...however I have had to go shopping in my workout clothing quite often (which I don't like to do, especially if I'm all sweaty). I sometimes see women shopping in their pj's...and I would say it is more of a "convenience" thing than anything. Maybe they need just 2 quick items from the store. I guess if they simply don't care - then KUDOS to them for being comfortable in their own skin :-)

My husband and I also have an ongoing discussion about pj's in public. Our comments about it come up when we are in airports traveling and we are always taken back by the people who are walking thru the terminals in their pj's and even slippers. My husband is an airline pilot, he wears a uniform that is comparable to a suit to work in.... he says it's like people showing up to an office building where people are dressed in suits- walking around in their pj's.
I think he's on to something here- the airport IS his office.
Just like the grocery store is another person's place of business....hmmm

I must admit, I am torn. Jodi, I agree that if a person feels comfortable going out in their PJ's, then good for them. The fact that I would feel uncomfortable doing so is definitely reflected in my opinion. But I also agree with TiffTalks. I feel that by taking a few minutes to get dressed in the morning you show that you respect people and their place of business. I have seen people walking their dogs in their PJ's and I honestly didn't think anything of it. But I feel that if you have time to go to the mall or to the grocery store, you could take a minute to change your clothes.

Melia426 - That's because you don't go to the grocery store! :)

I must admit that I've done the PJs thing before. Walking the dog and maybe a few times here and there to the store if I was sick and needed something. I was always ashamed though. I agree with those that feel it's a sign of laziness and disrespect. At least I tried to "dress up" the PJ pants with my normal coat and shoes :) The ultimate PJ no-no is when I see people wearing their slippers in the airport, grocery store, etc., especially the weather is bad. I will see slippers that are wet and dirty...Yuck...

I am guilty. I tend to wear PJs to take the kids to school. But only if I know that I am not getting out of the car, and then returning home.
What I wonder about, is if these people (women) wearing their PJs take the time to at least put a bra on before leaving the house to be out in public!

It's called, LAZY! Haha! In college, especially durring winter, I'd go to the store in my sweat pants (which I used as my PJs) and sweater. I was too cold, tired and lazy to go change into a pair of jeans. I don't do it anymore, but I'm completely guilty of doing it in college! =( Maybe these women nowadays are just plain 'ol lazy.

WOW! I didn't realized that adults did that!! I have never seen an adult in their pj's in public. OK, so even when I am sick I will slip on some sweats to go walk the dog or run to the store for some medicine. Funny, today on the way to school...all the kids at the bus stops were wearing their pj's! That was cute!
