Which do you prefer?

Television or books? This is a hard question for me. For most of life, the answer would have always been books. Books were always my way to relax and have fun. I honestly think at one point my family had as many books as our little local library. But now with the kiddos wearing me down, I will admit that I love watching TV. I don’t watch it during the day since my shows are not exactly kid friendly, but at night this is how my husband and I unwind. I haven’t given up my love for books, but at the end of day it is hard to keep my eyes open and focused on a page. TV requires a lot less concentration on my part. And the shows we watch are fun and action packed. As much as I love watching TV, I am kind of excited for a break. With summer break starting next week, I have a long list of books that I am dying to read. During the summers, I typically read more books than I do during the rest of the year combined. It is partly because I’m not chauffeuring the kids around as much, but it is also because there is not much on TV. During the summer, there are only a few must see shows. If you haven’t watched Eureka or Psych, you should definitely check them out. So which do you prefer? What are your must-read books for the summer? What are your must see shows? Grab a latte, put up your feet, and join the discussion!

I read more than I watch TV, but I have a eighteen year old! When Dylan was young, I still read but not as much just like you it was hard to stay awake. Rest assured that will change over time.
Far more interesting is what your planning on reading?? :)

I'm a book girl! I'd take a good book and a cozy spot to read over anything- ANY THING! :)

I'm definitely more of a tv watcher than a book reader. I watch tv at night with my husband and sometimes with the kids if it's like American Idol or the Discovery Life series - we watched those together, but I don't let my 3 and 9 year old watch a lot of tv. She reads way more than she does anything else - it's her life and her favorite thing to do!

Hi Kel, love the post and the signature :-)) I tend to prefer the TV at the end of a hard and long day working but you are right during the summer I read a lot more books just like u do!

It's always a pleasure to read your blog.

The best is laying in bed at night and watching a DVR'd episode of Grey's Anatomy and then picking up a book and reading until I fall asleep. That is Heaven!

I think I read more than I ever did as a child, but I def do not watch as much tv. I think I have it on mostly as back noise, seeing as it's usually on re-runs.

I love books but its been hard for me to start a book recently because I don't want to start unless I know that I have enough time to read the entire book, so lately definitely tv! I haven't really gotten into Eureka, but Loove Psych! And oh, can't wait for the premier of drop dead diva!!! Its soooo good!

TV I really don't have much to read b/c I'm really particular in my selection. That being said I really don't like to watch much on TV these days. When I do watch it's only a few shows. We only have one TV, don't subscribe to cable or dish so much of my TV time is actually spent watching shows on the computer LOL. Good question. Also I try to limit TV / screen time for the kids too.

I LOVE to read. I read anything and everything! My favorites are probably historical fiction and sci-fi books. I always think the book is better than the movie. I'm definitely a book person but I also like movies & TV too. My must watch TV show for this summer is Futurama - I'm so excited that they're bringing it back.

Books definitely! I only watch about 2 hours of tv a week. There is just not that much good on, tv also makes me sleepy..

I like the mindlessness of watching my reality tv! However, I adore reading too. Oh heck, I don't know!!!

I'm in the same boat as you. As much as I love reading, sometimes I just need to watch a little TV to unwind at nite!

My fave authors are Jennifer Weiner, Mary Kay Andrews--and I've done a few book reviews on my blog. I can't remember them all off the top of my head, haha!

I'm a book girl. Never have been big on TV. So, I'd say books. Just wish I had more time to read more of them :o)
