My children have received the flu shot every year since they were born and thankfully, they have never had the flu. I know that some parents don't bother with the flu shot and most of the time their kids don't get sick either. I think in my friend circle, we are split down the middle with who always gets shots and who never gets shots. I know that I get the shots out of fear of my children suffering for a week with the flu. In my opinion, the flu shot has been proven safe and my kids have never had a negative side effects to it. So for our family, it works.
It is officially flu season over here on the East Coast! It is the season of germs, missed school, and flu shots. Although it is only the beginning of flu season, many children have already been affected by the virus this year. My baby nephew, who lives in Maryland, had to go to the hospital last week because the flu had hit him so hard. It is so hard to watch our kids struggle being sick with just a cold, but the flu is downright scary. The flu progresses differently for different people, but everyone is at risk of high fever, pneumonia, and even death. What are your opinions on the flu shot? Does your family get it? Why or Why not?

No, my family and I have never gotten it....I have noticed that the daycare parents that do get the flu shot (with their children also) have gotten the flu..which is so weird, but they do..why don't we? Because of everyone that has gotten the flu shot, still got the flu...I'm glad to read that it has worked for you and your family. The flu that is going around these days is definitely not your typical 'flu'...so many other symptoms has appeared along side of it now...sigh...A few of my friends and daycare parents have ALREADY gotten it,,and it's not really 'flu season'..well it's just the beginning of October..I can't believe it's started already..SIGH SIGH SIGH!!!
I have never had a flu shot. I am terrified of needles. Like panic attack scared. I work as a nanny for twins and last year they were 6 months old. Their mom wanted me to get a shot but I couldn't. I did go once to try. I have had the flu twice in my 26 years of life so that's not bad. The funny thing is the family I work for all got the shot and all got the flu. Whomp whomp!
I have mixed feelings about flu shots. I know of one lady that is permanently disabled aa a result and have heard of many more nightmare stories.
I do feel that if you get the flu often or are at high risk such as the elderly or someone that comes in contact with students or in a clinical situation, then it is necessary.
As for grab a latte.... Have you ever heard of "fried latte"? I saw it at the Texas State Fair last weekend. Crazy isn't it? Not my cup of latte lol!!

IF I get service unavailable again, I'm gonna be ticked! I get it every time I leave comments these days on any blogger blogs. Ticks me off!
Anyhow, I take my chances and don't get the shot.
Angela (2)- That is crazy that they got the flu after the shot. Maybe we've just been really lucky at not getting the flu and it has nothing to do with the flu shot.
Following the flu and pandemics is something I have done over the last seven years. I can say that this flu is like nothing we have seen before. I am hearing of some studies that are being done, if the results are true, will be very shocking. After what I have learned, I would reccommend that everyone get their shots. My family will be getting ours. I am very sorry about your nephew. Would you be willing to share his story with me? If you could, drop me an email at twoofakind12@yahoo.com.
my little one got hers today. I will be getting my later on this week. I think it is great to have them. I do not want to get sick and I sure do not want my little one to get sick.. Have a great day and a wonderful way to get this out for others to talk about. Thanks..
My family and I always get the flu shot. Now, although last year we only took the regular flu season shot. The reason being my sons heart doctor and my medical doctor did not get one and refuse to offer the Swine Flu shot in their offices. I have found if you take tylenol ever for four hours before and after the shot you will not get flu like symptoms from the shot. It truly does help I just received my shot this week. I took the tylenol.
Our house is split on this topic. My husband gets a shot, I don't. Because I don't, the girls don't. Then he spends the rest of the fall and winter chasing me around lecturing on the merits of the flu shot.
I am sure it has merits, but between the four of us...he gets sick the most.
We do get the flu shot. We don't get the H1N1 though.
