Open Discussion: Nudity in Films

In my mind, there is way too much nudity in films today.  There are so many good stories that could be shared with the younger crowd (and the older without embarrassment) if the nudity would be eliminated.  I know there are many films that "require" nudity to keep the storyline real.  I could argue that, but I'll let it go.  There are other films though, usually comedies, that throw in nudity just for the sake of having in the films.  They know the majority of their audience is men, and of course want to please their audience.  In my mind, however, it is unnecessary and quite hard  to watch, especially with my husband sitting right next to me.  We actually try to steer clear of those films, but now-a-days, it pops up in most film with an R rating.  I know everyone has different opinions on the issue, and I'm interested in hearing yours.  Grab a latte, put up your feet, and join the discussion!

I don't see a need for nudity either. I feel weird watching those kind of movies.

I'm in complete agreement with you. I always wonder if the actors and actresses in those scenes will be comfortable having their children watch those movies one day.

I steer clear of any rated R movie. Even the PG 13 ones can get really bad with language and being inappropriate.

I agree with you. We try not to support films that might have nudity in them. We make ourselves familiar the popular directors in Hollywood and if we know most of their previous movies have included nudity we don't go see them in the movies. We wait for them to come out on dvd and that way we can watch the movie with the option to fast forward thru nude scenes.

It also helps to write these companies that are producing these movies and state your opinion. In order to get change you have to raise your voice for someone to hear you. And I have no problem doing so.

that is why I usually don't go to a theater. I would rather watch the movie at home so I can skip iupleasent scenes. You don't miss story 99% of the time when you skip.
