Recipe Corner: Fourth of July Fruit Trifle

Last year, I made this yummy Berry Trifle for our Fourth of July Block party. It must have been a big hit because at the end of the night, the bowl was empty! This dessert is easy to make and light on the stomach. Enjoy!

Ingredients

• 1 (5 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
• 3 cups cold milk
• 1 (9 inch) angel food cake, cut in cubes
• 4 bananas, sliced
• 1 container of fresh blueberries
• 1 (16 ounce) package frozen strawberries, thawed
• 1 (12 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed

Directions

1. Prepare pudding with milk according to package directions. In a trifle bowl or other glass serving dish, layer half the cake pieces, half the pudding, half the bananas, half, the blueberries, half the strawberries and half the whipped topping. Repeat layers. Cover and chill in refrigerator 4 hours before serving.

Wow! Looks delicious!! I love trifles. I haven't made one for years! We were into "trifle-making" a few years back, but now my bowl has sadly sat on the shelf--our bushes are full of raspberries...hmmm, I wonder if I could substitute them? I think I'll try that! Thanks for sharing!

I made something just like this for my Luau, I'll be posting it tonight. It's my favorite! And so pretty!

I've always wanted to make one, but where would be an inexpensive place to get a trifle dish?

I hope you all enjoy it! :) blueviolet - I'm not sure. I got mine as a wedding gifts years ago from Pampered Chef. I wonder if Target or Wal-mart sell them?
