Recipe Corner: Apple Crisp

My girls and I absolutely love this recipe.  My husband is not big on cooked fruits, but even he would love the crumbled topping.  Of course, the most time consuming part of this recipe is peeling and cutting the apples, but after that is done it is a very simple recipe that you will love.  So head out to the apple orchard and grab some delicious Granny Smith's and start baking!  And as always, if you have a recipe you'd like to share, please email me at betweenthelines-kam at hotmail dot com.  Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 10 cups Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup water
  •
  • 1 cup quick-cooking oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Place the sliced apples in a 9x13 inch pan. Mix the white sugar, 1 tablespoon flour and ground cinnamon together, and sprinkle over apples. Pour water evenly over all.
  3. Combine the oats, 1 cup flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda and melted butter together. Crumble evenly over the apple mixture.
  4. Bake for about 45 minutes.

Yumm! We love apple crisps and apple strudel and apple/sour cream pie and apple... haha Thank you for sharing yours. Our kids loved helping peel, core and slice apples for recipes...we had a hand turned apple/peeler/corer from Pampered Chef that I had bought around 1992 that we still use.

Blessings & Aloha!
