Last night I came across the great blog, Theta Mom. The great Theta Mom encourages mothers to take some Me Time. Me Time you say? What is this Me Time? “Me Time” is that little time that you set aside for yourself so that you can be a better mommy. Whether you can get a little time each day or once a week, me time is important. My kids are my whole life and I love them dearly, but they take a toll on my energy, patience, and sanity. In most households, the mother’s mood often sets the mood for the entire house. If mom is frazzled and frustrated the rest of the family will probably follow suit. This means more tantrums and arguments (and an even more frazzled mom). If you were able to schedule in some relaxation time for yourself, your household would probably run smoother. I know it is usually second nature for moms to feel that they have to take care of everyone and everything else first, but if you are tired and grumpy you won’t be able to do your job to the best of your abilities.
If you are worried about taking too much time away from your family, start small. Take 30 minutes to read a book, take a bath, or watch a “grown-up” TV show. Take a quiet walk in the evening and let your spouse clean up the dinner mess. As you start to feel more comfortable schedule some longer me time. Go out in the evening with your girlfriends. When was the last time you saw a movie? When was the last time that you had dinner without someone in your lap?
Me Time may be hard to find, but I say grab some soon (before you go loony). This month I was surprised by my husband with me time. Out of the blue he asked if he could take the kids to the mall and then out to dinner. This has only happened, maybe, one other time. To say the least, I was ecstatic beyond belief. I went straight to my comfy bed and curled up with a great book. Can you imagine reading for two uninterrupted hours? If not, it is time for you to find some me time! Best of Luck!

I totally agree - starting uot small is key, even if it's only 15 minutes. When I get a few moments to myslef, I know I am a better mother because of it.
And thanks so much for reading my interview! Following! :)
Thanks for Reading! It means alot!! :)
I learned that! I have to do things in small pieces. I blog early in the morning for about 30 minutes. Then get the girls all settled and come up for another 20 minutes.
I love taking a bath for me time.
Happy Timeout Thursday!

so true!!
What a great thing to be surprised with 'me' time! I'm glad you got to enjoy it. Visiting & following you through Theta Mom!
I am in total agreement with mommy me time. Because if Mommy is not happy, no one is happy! I am blessed with a husband that lets me get away, even for weekends with my girlfriends. But he gets "daddy" me time, too.
Oh my goodness i so would LOVE 2 hours of uninterrupted reading but I would probably waste the 2 hours deciding what to read! LOL
Found your fabulous blog through Theta Mom! Loving it! Now a new follower of yours!
I'm so glad that so many moms are finding Me Time. My mom pointed out that I don't always follow my own advice, but we take what we can get (even if only 10 minutes).
Pink Haired Momma - I definitely have never seen that much Me Time before, but I loved every minute of it!!! :)
This is so very important! I'm a single parent and have one sons left at home, but he has learning disabilties and needs so much more help with homework, etc. and I work full time at a very stressfull job. Totally exhausted when I come home on Friday evenings, so I really need a good hour to myself to relax and renew my strength before the weekend starts. (Sometimes I get 2 hours.. yeah!) :-)
Velvet Over Steel - I can't imagine being a single mom. You definitely deserve some Me Time!!! Stay strong and get some rest! :)
I love thetamom.. and i cherish my me time. I get a lot cuz I demand it and I require it for life.
Now my kids are older I get a lot.
I just recently started taking some "me time" and have seen great results! I had a tough week and just realized....I NEED (not just want) some ME TIME! What a great reminder! Keeping my fingers crossed for this weekend! ;)
Good Luck getting your Me Time!
